Southington To Launch New Parent Group Next Week

Southington To Launch New Parent Group Next Week

A new group for parents is set to launch in Southington next week, and it is not your typical PTA meeting. The Early Childhood Collaborative is starting a Parent Book Club, and the first session will focus on how children handle emotions and how parents can guide them through those big feelings.

Organizers say the goal is simple: give moms and dads a relaxed space to talk, share stories, and pick up practical tips. The club is open to anyone in town with young kids, and you do not need to be an expert on child development to join. The first book chosen tackles emotional growth in early years, a topic that often leaves parents with more questions than answers.

The group will meet weekly, and the format is meant to be low-pressure. You can read along, skim the chapters, or just come to listen. What matters is showing up and being part of the conversation. The collaborative has been working on early childhood programs for a while, and this is their latest effort to connect families outside of school walls.

Childcare is not provided, but the meetings are scheduled in the evening to make it easier for working parents. The first gathering is set for next week at a local community space, and there is no fee to attend. If you are interested, you can show up early to grab a seat and meet other parents. The group hopes to become a regular thing, with new books and topics rolling out every few weeks.
