A woman who left her child alone in a hot car while she went shopping did not learn her lesson when a stranger rescued the kid. Instead, she screamed at the shopper for ruining her day and demanded to cut the checkout line so she could go home and "watch her shows."
The incident began when a bystander noticed a small child locked inside a vehicle in a crowded parking lot. The windows were rolled up, and the temperature outside was climbing. The shopper acted quickly, alerting store security and helping to get the child out before the situation turned into a medical emergency. The child was sweating heavily and showing signs of distress, but was otherwise okay.
When the mother finally came out of the store, she did not thank the person who saved her child. She became irate, accusing the shopper of overreacting and causing a scene. Witnesses say she then followed the good Samaritan into the store, yelling at them and demanding that they let her skip the line because she needed to go home. She claimed the delay was keeping her from her television shows.
Store employees called the police. Officers arrived, reviewed security footage, and spoke to witnesses. They determined the mother had left the child unattended in a dangerously hot vehicle for a significant amount of time. She was arrested on charges of child endangerment and disorderly conduct.
The child was placed in temporary custody of child protective services. The shopper who intervened declined to press charges for the verbal harassment, saying they were just glad the child was safe. The mother now faces a court date and potential loss of custody.
