Kang So-ra’s martial-arts-inspired parenting with her sensitive 6-year-old daughter... “Deep breathing to calm down when angry”

Kang So-ra has opened up about how her love of wuxia novels has influenced the way she raises her two daughters. The actress explained that she borrowed ideas from the martial arts genre to help her children manage their emotions, particularly her sensitive six-year-old daughter.

According to Kang So-ra, she taught her daughters a technique called diaphragmatic breathing, which involves deep breathing from the diaphragm rather than the chest. She compared the practice to the way martial artists in wuxia stories train their bodies and minds to stay calm and focused. The goal is to give the children a simple tool they can use when they feel overwhelmed or angry.

She described how her older daughter sometimes struggles with strong feelings and can get upset easily. When that happens, Kang So-ra encourages her to pause and take slow, deep breaths to settle down before talking about what is bothering her. The actress said the approach has helped her daughter respond more calmly in difficult moments.

Kang So-ra also noted that she does not force the technique on her children but rather presents it as a fun exercise inspired by the stories she enjoys. She believes that giving kids a concrete way to handle big emotions builds confidence over time. The actress added that parenting requires patience and creativity, and she is always looking for ways to connect with her daughters while helping them grow.
