When a close friend asked me for registry advice, I didn't hold back. As a parent who has been through the newborn trenches, I know which items are worth the splurge and which ones end up collecting dust. My list leans toward top-tier gear that actually makes life easier, not just fancier.
First, the stroller. I told her to go for the Uppababy Vista V2 or the Cruz V2. Yes, they are expensive, but the smooth ride, easy fold, and ability to convert into a double make them worth every penny. You push it one-handed while holding a coffee, and you never look back.
Next, the Snoo Smart Sleeper. I know it is polarizing, but for us, it bought precious hours of sleep. The gentle rocking and white noise soothed our baby when nothing else could. If she can swing it, the rental option is a smart middle ground.
For feeding, I recommended the Baby Brezza Formula Pro. It makes a bottle in seconds, no shaking or lumps. It sounds silly, but at 3 a.m., it is a lifesaver. Alongside that, the Nuna Pipa Lite RX car seat is incredibly lightweight and clicks into the Uppababy stroller without adapters.
Finally, the everyday staples: a good sound machine (the Hatch Rest+), a wipeable changing pad like the Keekaroo Peanut, and a ton of muslin swaddles from Aden + Anais. These are the items you use multiple times a day, every single day. The fancy diaper bag? Skip it. A simple backpack works better.
In the end, I told her to prioritize anything that saves time, reduces crying, or lets her sleep. The rest is just decoration.
